What is Horticultural Therapy?
Horticultural Therapy aims at raising of a person’s well-beings; it is defined as the engagement of a person in gardening and plant-based activities, facilitated by a trained tutor to achieve specific therapeutic treatment goals.
It focuses on the connection and interaction between plants and humans, and encourages the person to experience the life cycle of plants to bring about an understanding of and to reflect on the life energy of plants.
Horticultural Therapy is based on Positive Strength Based Therapy. Through the themes of plants, such as vegetables, fruit trees and flowers to benefit the participant physically, psychologically, mentally, socially, and of their perceptions of life.
